Miriam Cahn Frieze Seoul 2022
For our first participation in Frieze Seoul 2022, we are proposing a solo show by the Swiss artist Miriam Cahn, who we represent since the very beginning in 2006. In collaboration with Meyer Riegger gallery, our booth will stage some of the most representative aspects of Miriam Cahn’s work.
갤러리 조슬린 울프(Galerie Jocelyn Wolff)는 프리즈 서울 2022에 처음 참가하며 메이어 리거 갤러리 (Meyer Riegger Gallery)와 함께 2006년 초부터 활동하고 있는 스위스 아티스트 미리암 칸(Miriam Cahn)의 대표 작품들로 솔로 쇼를 선보입니다.
Presented at the 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia 2022 « The Milk of Dreams », awarded the 14th Rubens Prize from the City of Siegen in June 2022, welcomed for a personal retrospective at Palais de Tokyo in 2023, Cahn’s artistic practice explores an ongoing battle against violence and oppression in all forms, and fight for basic rights and equality. By indicating actual themes relevant to society, her artworks evolve into a testament of socio-political changes and raise existential questions around gender roles, and challenge heteronormative bias and socially constructed definitions.
2022년 베니스 비엔날레의 제59회 국제 예술 전시회에서 발표되었던 «꿈의 우유»는 2022년 6월 독일 지겐시(Siegen City) 제14회 루벤스상을 수상, 2023년 팔레 드 도쿄(Palais de Tokyo)에서 개인 회고전에 초대되었으며, 미리암 칸(Miriam Cahn)은 모든 형태의 폭력과 억압에 대한 지속적인 투쟁을 탐구하는 동시에 기본권과 평등을 위해 끊임없이 탐구하고 있습니다. 그녀의 작품은 사회에 대한 실질적 주제를 통해 사회 정치적 변화, 성 역할에 관한 실존적 질문, 전통적 이성애에 대한 편향과 사회적으로 정의된 것들에 도전합니다.
A selection of master pieces, carefully selected by Galerie Jocelyn Wolff and Meyer Riegger in collaboration with the artist, will invite Frieze Seoul publics to discover or re-discover Miriam Cahn’s work through this artist’s solo show.
