« First meeting » is the first monograph dedicated to Argentinian artist Santiago de Paoli. From his early experimental projects to his most recent explorations, the book delves into his innovative approach of painting on unconventional materials, from plaster to bread, felt to canvas, aluminium to wool, socks and even fur. It features newly commissioned essays by Fernanda Brenner, Mariano Mayer and a conversation between Christian Rattemeyer and the artist. The book is also punctuated by visual archives of De Paoli's different studios throughout the years, enriching the comprehensive overview of an artistic universe where nature, abstraction, magic and surrealism intersect and converge. Covering works spanning from 2010 to 2024, this monograph offers an original and interpretative pathway to the oeuvre of Santiago de Paoli.
